Our children are our miracles. Every day we work tirelessly to provide for them. Some of them are born with advantages, yes, advantages. Having ADHD isn’t a setback.

It’s an advantage because children with ADHD are born fighters (and that is a thing that must be respected).

Sometimes, they need help from us, parents, and we need help from tech. So let’s see how technology can help children with ADHD focus and stay organized.

What is ADHD?

ADHD is a common neurodevelopmental disorder among children that can sometimes follow into adulthood.

In recent studies, scientists have figured that ADHD is caused by genetics, alcohol or tobacco usage during pregnancy, brain injury, premature birth, etc.

Symptoms include forgetting things, fidgeting, risk-taking, social difficulties, deconcentration, lack of focus, talking too much, etc.

There are different types of ADHD, depending on which symptoms are more prominent. If you frequently detect these symptoms in your children, book a visit to the doctor.

It is also crucial to know that even if your children have some symptoms, they might not have ADHD. Read more on the causes, symptoms, and treatments of ADHD at this link.

If serious, ADHD might hinder your child’s academic and daily life. So take them to the doctor if you are scared, and don’t rely only on online information.

Where Does Tech Come in?

As we all know, technology opens up a lot of doors, helps us, and comes up with answers for everything.

Well, tech also knows the answer to the question: How can I help my child if it has ADHD?

So, let’s explore all the options and find out how tech can ease the life of children with ADHD!

Benefits of Technology

When we dial a phone, we focus. When we text a message, we focus. When we play video games, we focus.

Do you spot the pattern? Technology needs our focus for us to use it correctly.

So combining the nature of technology with special activities designed for children with ADHD is a perfect way of helping them live life to the fullest.

For example, there are many digital tools meant for children with ADHD that we will explore in the following paragraphs.

  • iBooks

If you have an iOS, iBooks (or Apple Books) is perfect for children with ADHD that are interested in literature.

Options include audio books, note-taking, and interactive textbooks that help children with ADHD focus.

  • Storybird

If your child wants to become a writer but has a tough time finding inspiration or focus for it, Storybird can help!

It’s an interactive story-writing helper with creative images and illustrations that can stir your child’s imagination.

  • Spell Better

This app helps children with their spelling while texting and chatting with friends.

Even though it’s mainly made for dyslexic children, Spell Better also helps children with ADHD that have difficulties spelling.

  • Any.do

This free app helps children with ADHD set up reminders for their chores and tasks.

The fun and creative interface bring a positive light to the program (available for iOS and Android).

And, of course, you, parents, can also try using it because forgetting things is a habit we all have.

  • Piano Tiles 2

You’ve probably played this game. If not, open up the App Store and download it.

It’s a fun and musical game that requires focus and fast motor skills to get a higher score.

So sit down and enjoy some musical classics while exercising your fingers.

  • Minecraft

Ah, the classic sandbox game called Minecraft. You’ve probably heard of it or seen your child play it.

It’s a great game for children with ADHD since it provides them the chance to get creative, build houses, explore, take care of animals, and much more!

Also, it has multiplayer, so you can play with them!

  • EndeavorRx

It is a game specially made for therapeutic programs for children with ADHD.

Doctors often prescribe this game as a fun and interactive treatment for children.

Results have shown that EndeavorRx helps children with ADHD focus and pay more attention.

Help and Tutoring

We all know the struggles of being a parent. Every type of help is loved and welcomed.

Nowadays, there are tuition programs for anything, including children with ADHD.

Contacting professionals might be the best solution for your child. Trained tutors are experienced and will offer the best help you can receive.

This can result in your child improving their social, academic, and concentration skills while making new friends along the way.

Here is a list of some tuition programs that offer professional help for children with ADHD.

  • Team A Tuition
  • Organizational Tutors
  • Varsity Tutors

Traditional Methods

So far, we’ve talked about how tech can help children with ADHD. But we mustn’t forget the traditional methods.

Board games, natural remedies, and constant communication with your children are the best traditional methods you can use.

I highly recommend searching the traditional ways so you can combine them with technology.

The Perfect Combination

Finding the middle line isn’t easy. It may take weeks or even months to figure out what makes your child comfortable.

Your job as a parent is to introduce your child to both digital and traditional methods of dealing with ADHD.

At some point, your child will pick the methods they feel most comfortable with.

So don’t give up, be patient, and be there for your child. Communicate, listen, talk, show them what’s right and wrong, etc.

Conclusion

Our children are the pearls of our lives. We must do everything to protect them and make them feel safe.

Don’t discourage your child if it has ADHD. Make them know they’re as smart, special, and perfect as the other kids.

Your love and patience combined with technology and traditional methods of battling ADHD will turn your children into mature, professional, and productive people.

And those people will lead our future. So, if your child has ADHD,  seek the needed help, but don’t forget that the person that can help the most is you.
