We can also figure out great unique gift ideas that are also useful and a good amount to spend on a gift or gifts for a baby shower. Let’s dive in!

The Most Useful Baby Gifts for Parents

Best Useful Baby Shower Gifts

We really like to be thoughtful when we bring a gift to a baby shower, and that thoughtfulness is probably what brought you to this article. Trust me when I say that the gifts you bring can be a lifesaver for parents! You can never have too many of some things, like diapers for instance. This is a great one, whether you get small size 1’s, all the way up to size 3’s.

Here are some actually useful baby shower gifts that you might consider buying.

  • Baby bath bundles
    • Having enough washcloths and towels for the baby is so helpful!
  • Baby shampoo
    • This is so useful for parents as well; I used baby shampoo on my kids until they were about 4. You can go through a lot!
  • Sleep sack Swaddlers
    • These are amazing!
  • Baby booties
    • Their feet can get pretty cold, these are thoughtful and cute!
  • Tummy time toy
    • Tummy time will be a big milestone for the baby to strengthen his or her neck and get used to moving. Having a thoughtful toy like this will make tummy time much more enjoyable for the little.
  • A bottle warmer
    • This isn’t an essential need, but it is useful in making sure the bottle doesn’t get overheated in a microwave.
  • Short-sleeve or long-sleeve onesies
    • This is so useful, baby’s can get their clothes pretty soiled, between puking and possible poo blow-outs. This is one of those, you can never have too many things.
  • Baby monitor
    • Parents do not want to leave the baby’s side, but this isn’t feasible to never leave their side. Giving them this gift will be so helpful when the baby is sleeping so parents can feel at ease doing other things they need to be doing.
  • Baby bouncer
    • Bouncers are incredibly useful gifts, most parents I know have used one. The gentle rocking is soothing for babies.
  • Stroller organizer
    • This is useful for parents as well, it gives them more space to store things like a water bottle, or the baby’s bottle while out on a walk.
  • Baby carrier
    • The awesomeness of a baby carrier is just that. Awesome. I used mine all of the time, it is good for bonding, keeping the baby close when he or she is upset while the parent does things, going for a walk, etc.
  • Swaddle blankets
    • These are in the can’t have too many categories! Babies can get dirty, and their blanket along with it!
  • Rattles or teethers
    • Babies really like rattles and those teethers will be so handy to have on hand.
  • Changing pad
    • Parents aren’t always in the best place to change a little one, getting them this useful gift will make this issue a nonissue.
  • Pack and play
    • Pack and plays are very useful especially when they travel! If they get to an area where the baby needs to be a bit more contained or off the ground this will prove to be very useful!
  • Baby mirror
    • Even if this mirror is on a toy, babies enjoy looking at their reflection!
  • Self-care kit for the parents
    • After their baby is born they are going to forget some self-care once in a while. Helping them out with this is very useful in making sure they don’t get too burnt out!
  • Baby swing
    • Babies absolutely love these, well maybe not all of them, but the ones I have been around, and my own certainly did. This gives parents a breather too!
  • Baby bottles
    • Bottles come in handy, even for parents that breastfeed, this bottle will come in handy later.
  • Baby Car seat cover
    • This is useful during the winter and summer months! It keeps out the cold in the winter and keeps out the sun to protect the baby from sunburn and too much heat.
  • Stroller
    • Strollers are useful for any parent, parents who hike, parents who walk, parents who go to the fair, etc.

Unique Baby Shower Gifts

If the above gifts aren’t what you are looking to bring then perhaps a more unique idea that most people don’t think of is more your speed!

  • Door silencer
    • The door is never louder than when their baby finally goes to sleep, and their parents leave the room! This gift would eliminate that obnoxious click giving way for a more restful sleep for the baby, and peace of mind for the parents.
  • Stroller lock
    • Strollers can be pretty expensive, so this gift would be perfect for a time when they would need to ditch the stroller outside or something and keep it safe!
  • Meal delivery gift card
    • This will help parents when they are struggling with their new world and time!
  • Infant meds/sick kit
    • Fevers have a way of popping up, particularly during teething time! A baby thermometer, some infant Tylenol, a “booger sucker”, some saline nose drops, and ta-da. You have made a quick baby med kit that will be so useful!
  • Safety stuff
    • Most people don’t think of all the things the baby will start getting into as soon as she or he is crawling! Things like a baby gate, cupboard latches, etc. will come in very handy!

Final Thoughts

The amount you spend on the gift or gifts for the baby shower really depends on what you feel like spending. Statistics show that the average amount spent on baby shower gifts depends on the relationship with the parents-to-be.

  • Acquaintances/coworkers: $50.00
  • Friends and distant relatives: $50.00-$100.00
  • Close friends and family: $100.00-$200.0, or more.
