There is also a special baby detergent if your baby has sensitive skin. Mine did not have this issue and I would wash their clothes with our regular detergent, but it is better to be careful due to their sensitive skin.
It is also recommended that you run baby clothes on a gentle cycle, and if you are able to set it on a rinse cycle twice this will help preserve your baby’s clothes for a longer period of time.
Drying Baby Clothes
I have personally used a dryer for most of my baby clothes, but when I had the time, I would allow them to air dry.
One of the best recommendations from experts on this is, that if you are using a dryer to dry your baby’s clothes you should put it on a low heat cycle. Shrinking can and will happen to the clothes if they are in too high of a heat setting. And let’s be honest, these babies grow to fast for stuff to be shrinking on them!
Also, if the clothes label says not to use machines, it is best that you heed the information and directions given to ensure the clothes last longer.
Should I Wash New Baby Clothes?
When you first get your baby new clothing, you can’t really be sure of what kind of irritants are on them. Or even if someone had gotten the clothing and had it returned before. That is why it is usually safest to ensure that nothing is present on the clothing.
The best way to do that is to wash the clothing. When you do, make sure that all of the stickers and tags have been removed. It is not fun to have a bunch of wadded and wet paper hanging on the clothes you just cleaned, believe me!
